  • Testing & Protection Engineer
    POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direct supervision of Manager-Electro Mechanical, this position is overall responsible for viewing the tender offers from the clients / consultants / vendors with the complete requirements in an effective and efficient manner as per the company standards.ACCOUNTABILITY:• Accountable for timely completion of work entrusted to him. • Accountable for testing & commissioning works for sub station equipments, power station equipments, OHL equipments ( Auto recloser, Voltage regulator, Pole mounted capacitor Banks) and cables in sites as required.• Accountable for preparing testing and commissioning reports, submission and follow ups till obtaining the final acceptance from the clients.AUTHORITIES & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES• To review of technical offers from vendors for new tenders during tendering stage and preparation of compliance sheet and discussion with vendors if required to meet with the requirements of tender documents.• To design, reviews and follow up in coordination with clients, vendors, consultants for electrical schematics and protection related documents for new projects up to obtaining final approvals.• To prepare of relay setting calculations and related protection study for all protection equipments whichever required and follow up with client engineer up to obtaining final approvals.• To be fully responsible for testing & commissioning works for sub station equipments, power station equipments, OHL equipments ( Auto recloser, Voltage regulator, Pole mounted capacitor Banks) and cables in sites as required.• To submit the instruction to Purchase department for periodic maintenance and calibration of all testing and protection related equipments in the company on periodic intervals.• To attend the technical meetings with clients / main contractors in whichever site location as required.• To be fully responsible for preparing testing and commissioning reports, submission and follow ups till obtaining the final acceptance from the clients.• To provide guidance to the draughtsman to prepare as built for protection related drawings / schematics to complete the submission of as built file.• To review existing protection and control schemes for the above equipment and associated control systems, including emergency load management systems.• Design protection and control schemes for new equipment and systems going forward.• Establish and maintain a register of all protection and control schemes and related settings.• Establish and maintain protection and test routines for the above equipment and associated control systems, including emergency load management systems.• Conduct or initiate network studies as necessary.• To provide support and advice for the concerned Engineers on protection and control matters.• To be responsible for any unsafe acts, Unsafe conditions at site.• To be responsible for undertaking a detailed risk assessment and for preparing a site specific safe system of work method statement prior to the commencement of any work. • To be responsible for ensuring that all employees are working in accordance with the developed safe system of work method statement.• Instruct to all team members in precise terms as to the safe system of work required to ensure compliance with the company’s health and safety objectives and statutory legislation MD 286/2008.• Responsible for ensuring appropriate personal protective equipment is used at all times in the work place and also to ensure PPE is properly maintained, cleaned, serviced and stored when not being used.• To carryout daily checks and inspection of PPE prior to its use.• To assisting, cooperating with the client, representatives and others in any aspect relating to the implementation of Health and Safety.• Timely adopting the principles of prevention and protection at all times..• Timely ensuring that all hazardous materials are properly marked, used and stored, as outlined on the COSHH or other risk assessment.• To ensuring all debris or contaminated materials generated by their actions are cleared up and properly disposed off.• To be fully responsible for reporting any accidents or incidents timely in which they have been involved.• Communicate on timely to the concerned regarding any repair of office equipment or machinery defects.• In Coordination with HSE Representative, conduct HSE Inspection in work place.• Timely coordinate with the company IMS Team and work together with the MR or other assigned in charge to ensure the compliance of the requirements of IMS (ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007).• Keep updated the documents related to IMS in coordination with the MR other assigned in charge.• Timely ensuring to follow up with the concerned department to close the NCR within the timeframe designed by the MR.The above is a list of key tasks and responsibilities and is intended as a guide only with regard to the role.
